Key steps between the submission of a regional project and the selection of projects by the Kiwa Initiative

  1. The Kiwa Initiative Secretariat will review the project using the detailed criteria listed in the terms of reference and send its recommendations to the Steering Committee (SC)* voting members.
  2. Voting members of the SC deliver an opinion:
    • Favorable
    • Conditional
    • Unfavorable
  3. If the project receives a favorable opinion, it will be evaluated by AFD (around 6 months).

*The Steering Committee (SC) is the Initiative’s governing body. It is made up of donors and representatives of PICTs as voting members. Its regional partners (SPC, SPREP, IUCN) are observer members. The SC develops the Initiative’s annual strategic orientations. It also provides an opinion on the regional projects it assesses and any other subject that is important to the Initiative.
