How to secure financing of adaptation and impact limitation policies in the face of climate change?

During #COP28, the topic of #NbS and climate finance was developped during a side-event organized by IUCN: "Accelerating finance for Nature-based Solutions: Unlocking opportunities for sustainable development."

During her speech, Mathilde Kraft, Kiwa Initiative Manager at the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP), highlighted in particular the difficulty for Pacific States and Territories to access climate finance, and the ambition of the Kiwa Initiative to provide them with grants and technical assistance to help them adapt to climate change through #NbS.

As Mathilde mentionned, "While the majority of Pacific island territories are developing, the region receives 7% of its climate finance needs, which includes climate change adaptation, as well as emissions reduction strategies and transition."
