The Steering Committee Meeting ended last week.
Donors, Pacific Island Countries and Territories sub-region representatives, Kiwa community members based in Canada, Belgium, Philippines, Fiji, Polynesia, Marshall Islands, New Zealand, Australia, France, Samoa and New Caledonia were connected to take stock of the progress of the Initiative.
On Tuesday 7th of December 2021, our three partners SPC, IUCN and SPREP have presented progress of technical assistance provided to project leaders.
On Wednesday 8th of December 2021, the Steering Committee discussed regional projects submitted for the Call for Ideas 2021:
- 18 concept notes have been submitted from the Pacific 3 sub-regions covered by the Initiative
- 72 M€ have been requested to Kiwa (4M€/project) by project leaders
These figures remind us the needs of Pacific Island Countries and Territories to adapt to climate change and to propose solutions and means of action through Nature based Solutions #NbS.
Now, a 6-month period of appraisal will start for the favorable projects before the signature of the financing agreements. Learn more about the steps to submit regional projects to the Initiative: https://youtu.be/pQHIndMJQGA
