PEBACC+ : Writeshops in Fiji to support access to climate finance
Follow-up to the project:
PEBACC +: Scaling-up ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change in the Pacific Islands

As part of the Kiwa regional PEBACC+ project, our partner SPREP, in collaboration with the UNDP GEF Small Grants Programme Fiji and the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs – Cakaudrove Provincial Office, held its third project writeshop in Taveuni, Fiji, on 2–3 April 2025.
The workshop brought together 16 participants from five communities — including village chiefs, women, youth, and members of traditional landowning groups — to strengthen their skills in project development and access to climate finance. The goal: to enable these communities, already engaged in Nature-based Solutions (NbS), to extend, replicate, and sustain the actions implemented under the PEBACC+ project.
The first two writeshops were held in November 2024 in the districts of Vuna and Wainikeli, with a total of 82 participants.
These sessions perfectly illustrate the approach of the Kiwa Initiative: supporting local actors for effective, sustainable, and community-rooted climate adaptation.
The PEBACC+ project is implemented by SPREP with financial support from the Kiwa Initiative and the French Facility for Global Environment (FFEM).
