PEBACC+ Project: Experience Sharing in Fiji on Implementing NbS
Follow-up to the project:
PEBACC +: Scaling-up ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change in the Pacific Islands

As part of its commitment to Nature-based Solutions (NbS), the Kiwa Initiative supports knowledge-sharing among project leaders to exchange experiences and strengthen the resilience of ecosystems and communities across the Pacific.
Recently, the PEBACC+ and RESTORE projects, funded by the Kiwa Initiative, took part in a meeting organized by SPREP, in Fiji. This exchange provided field actors with an opportunity to learn from each other and refine their strategies to better preserve biodiversity and combat the effects of climate change through NbS.
A remarkable example: After Cyclone Watson in 2016, the village of Barotu (Fidji) began restoring its mangroves with the support of Conservation International. Thanks to these efforts, crab fishing has once again become profitable and thousands of flying foxes have returned, helping to restore the ecological balance.
Through initiatives like these, the Kiwa Initiative facilitates access to technical support for the implementation of NbS, contributing to a more resilient and sustainable Pacific.
