Follow-up to the project:

On September 16–17, 2025, Palau hosted the inception workshop of the regional Kiwa Women’s Work project. The workshop brought together leaders and stakeholders from Dmakeiukl, as representatives of the Kiwa Initiative donors.
It emphasized the importance of community-driven solutions and women’s leadership. Participants will work together to advance a shared vision for resilient communities and healthy coastal ecosystems in Palau and the wider Micronesian region. Implemented by the Micronesia Conservation Trust (MCT) this three-year project aims to restore shallow coastal habitats (mangroves, seagrass meadows, coral reef flats) in the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.
By placing women — traditional knowledge holders and food producers — at the center of governance and planning, the project acknowledges their vital role in food security, coastal protection, and community resilience.
