PEBACC +: Scaling-up ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change in the Pacific Islands

Vegetal barriers made of coconut palm fronds, coastal revegetation, and community-led climate action are taking shape in Ouvéa with the launch of the Kiwa PEBACC+ project, a major step in adapting to climate change through practical, locally driven solutions.
In the coming months, several initiatives will be rolled out:
All actions will be organised as participatory community days led by local associations, strengthening climate resilience while building local capacity and ownership.
The project was officially launched after six months of preparation, field missions, and the establishment of key partnerships, including an agreement signed between SPREPand the Iaai Tourism Syndicate, as well as implementation agreements with the associations ASBO and Ouvéa Anime.
