On this occasion, a regional workshop dedicated to community-based fisheries management (CBFM) in Micronesia brought together community representatives, practitioners, scientists and institutional partners from across the Pacific.
Over five days, participants exchanged on community governance practices, shared concrete experiences, and explored the connections between watersheds, coastal ecosystems and reefs. Discussions highlighted the central role of nature-based solutions, traditional knowledge and co-management approaches in sustaining fisheries resources, strengthening food security and increasing resilience to climate change.
This workshop illustrates the integrated roots to reef approach promoted by MiCOAST and confirms community-based fisheries management as a key lever for adaptation and long-term sustainability in Pacific island territories.
