Mangrove tree nursery in Fiji: a crucial role in climate change adaptation

C3 Fiji team visit to Navidamu Nursery
Our C3 Fiji team recently visited the Navidamu Nursery, where we were delighted to find 10,000 mangrove propagules thriving thanks to the dedicated care of the Navidamu community! Here are the highlights of our visit:
Monitoring the nursery
The aim of our visit was to monitor the growth of the propagules and determine whether any interventions were needed.
These propagules will be ready for planting in just two weeks!
Community involvement
The propagation efforts are the result of a comprehensive community involvement, involving the Youth Club, the Women's Club and the Navidamu Rugby Team. Their collective work, including weeding and watering, ensures that the propagules are in excellent condition.
Ongoing support
C3 Fiji is committed to returning to help the community during the planting process, reinforcing our partnership to protect and conserve their natural resources.
The Importance of Mangroves
Mangroves are essential for coastal protection, biodiversity conservation and carbon sequestration. They play a crucial role in combating climate change and protecting marine life.
