Kiwa PEBACC+ holds its first regional learning event in Fiji
Follow-up to the project:
PEBACC +: Scaling-up ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change in the Pacific Islands

In Nadi, Fiji, the regional Kiwa PEBACC+ project brought together for the first time community leaders, experts and practitioners from Fiji, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu during a regional learning and knowledge-sharing event focused on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA).
Organised by SPREP, with support from the Kiwa Initiative and the FFEM, this 5-day exchange aimed to:
- promote traditional knowledge,
- share innovative strategies,
- strengthen the practical implementation of EbA,
- and lay the foundation for a regional EbA practitioners network.
Discussions and hands-on sessions covered a wide range of EbA-related topics, including forest restoration, mangrove and coastal vegetation rehabilitation, invasive species management, and integration of EbA into national climate strategies.
By investing in knowledge sharing and collaboration, the Kiwa PEBACC+ project not only enhances local climate resilience, but also sets a precedent for regional adaptation strategies through scalable Nature-based Solutions across the Pacific.
