Kiwa INSPIRE : Women mobilising against invasive species in Palau

From 11–13 September 2025, the Kiwa INSPIRE regional project, supported by the Kiwa Initiative, hosted a unique women’s community exchange in Kayangel, gathering participants from Koror and Kayangel.

Discussions and field visits highlighted the threats of climate change and invasive species to crops and biodiversity. Women shared both traditional and scientific knowledge, observed the positive outcomes of native plant restoration, and noted the return of local species such as the coconut crab.

With community and state leaders present, the exchange underscored the importance of women’s leadership and local cooperation in building sustainable solutions.
