RESTORE: Restoring ecosystems for sustainable, transformative, and resilient communities

The Kiwa RESTORE project in Timor-Leste is strengthening community groups through training led by Fundasaun Alola and Conservation International Timor-Leste on collecting, aggregating, and adding value to local products. Created last August, the groups focus either on mangrove restoration or on developing sustainable local products.
Since 13 November, a series of workshops has enhanced members’ skills in data analysis, product design, packaging choices, and brand identity. The Sanirin group has already selected two priority products: hodi sona and sangria.
This training represents a key step toward ensuring the groups’ long-term economic sustainability after the project ends. CI-TL, which is actively engaged in climate action, also supports communities through innovative solutions such as Marine Protected Areas, essential for local livelihoods.
