Their ambition: to train a new generation of eco-guardians to protect one of the country’s most emblematic coastal ecosystems.
Children aged 9 to 11 take part in eco-camps and hands-on workshops to discover the unique biodiversity of the dunes, understand the importance of coastal ecosystems, and build their commitment to protecting fiji’s natural and cultural heritage.
This environmental education programme is part of a broader project supported by the kiwa initiative: "building coastal resilience – dune ecosystem", launched in 2022.
The project aims to strengthen ecological and community resilience through the restoration of pilot sites, the creation of wildfire buffer zones, the control of invasive species, and the mobilisation of local communities around the sustainable management of natural resources.
