RESTORE: Restoring ecosystems for sustainable, transformative, and resilient communities

The RESTORE Project Inception Workshop and the first Stakeholder Coordination Committee Meeting were held last week at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva. The event brought together key partners and stakeholders united by a common goal: to restore ecosystems, strengthen climate resilience, and support the unique communities who depend on these landscapes.
Funded by the Kiwa Initiative and implemented by Conservation International (CI), the RESTORE project aims to enhance community resilience to climate change through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) in Fiji, Samoa, and Timor-Leste.
In Fiji, the project focuses on restoring and managing vital ecosystems—such as mangroves and coral reefs—to reduce vulnerability to climate change and enhance coastal protection. Priority areas of intervention include the Rewa Delta, Navitilevu Bay, and the Lau Seascape. Strong collaboration with local stakeholders will be essential to improve ecosystem services and support sustainable livelihoods.
