RESTORE: Restoring ecosystems for sustainable, transformative, and resilient communities

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Kiwa RESTORE project highlights the women who are taking concrete action on the ground to restore mangroves and strengthen the resilience of coastal communities across the Pacific.
Behind every restored mangrove are committed women, present and determined to drive change. From Fiji to Samoa and Timor-Leste, local champions such as Vasemaca, Moe, and Teresinha embody this mobilisation for coastlines, theenvironment, and communities.
Through their actions, they help protect coastlines, preserve ecosystems, and demonstrate an environmental leadership rooted in local realities.
