The 6th Pacific-France Summit in Nice: a stronger commitment to climate, islands and the ocean

On June 10, 2025, the 6th Pacific-France Summit brought together the heads of government and representatives of the Pacific island states alongside the President of the French Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron.
The final declaration issued by the Elysée Palace at the Pacific-France Summit reiterates a strong commitment to climate change adaptation for Pacific Island States, and the need to adopt vulnerability-based development financing.
The French President took the opportunity to highlight the Kiwa Initiative: "We underline the decisive importance of resilience-building measures that are locally driven, inclusive and based on science and traditional knowledge and practices. In this respect, we welcome France's continued support for the Kiwa Initiative's multi-donor program, which includes nature-based projects with some of the region's members."
Building on the momentum of the Ocean Summit, this dialogue strengthens synergies between public authorities, civil society, the economic sector and scientists, to accelerate action for the ocean, climate and island communities.
