Since 2020, 9 regional projects and 32 local projects have been supported across 17 Pacific Island Countries and Territories.
These 41 projects, based on Nature-based Solutions NbS, focus on the restoration of terrestrial and coastal ecosystems, agroforestry and sustainable agriculture, sustainable fisheries and aquaculture, as well as integrated watershed management.
To date, more than 300 intervention sites and 640 communities are supported by the Kiwa Initiative, reaching over 127,250 direct beneficiaries across the Pacific.
In 2026, the Kiwa Initiative will continue this momentum, working closely with Pacific Island communities to support inclusive, practical, and sustainable NbS.
The teams of the Kiwa Initiative Secretariat and the AFD warmly thank everyone contributing to this collective effort and wish you an engaged, supportive and hopeful year 2026.
