Despite lacking traditional marine tenure, communities are being encouraged to take ownership of their adjacent waters. With support from the regional MiCOAST project, a National Information Strategy was launched to engage the public. Nature-based Solutions, such as coral farming, are also being tested to restore reefs and support alternative livelihoods. While challenges remain, growing trust and participation from local communities offer hope for a more resilient marine environment in Nauru.
