Inspiring synergies within the Kiwa Initiative!
Last week, the Kiwa Initiative Steering Committee meeting occurred in Suva, Fiji. This gathering encouraged meaningful exchanges between our donors, project leaders and partners, highlighting the impactful collaboration inside our Kiwa community.
For instance, as we can see on the picture below, the hashtag#POLFN project, led by the Pacific Community-SPC - SPC, provided agroecological training to Mr. Leopoli and Mr. Pelasio, two beneficiaries from Taveuni (Fiji) who are part of the hashtag#PEBACC+ project led by Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP). The proximity of these two farmers to the Mudrenicagi Organic Learning Farm in Vanua Levu (Fiji) creates a natural synergy and strengthens connections between the two Kiwa Initiative-funded projects.
Another promising collaboration:The POLFN and WISH+ (led by Wildlife Conservation Society) projects with a common vision:
- Peer-to-peer exchanges are more effective than expert-led training.
- Improving water quality can serve as a powerful incentive to encourage communities to adopt agroecological practices.
To this purpose, POLFN will invite its farmers to share their experiences with agroecological solutions (reducing soil erosion, limiting chemical use, and preventing water contamination) with communities involved in the WISH+ project. In turn, WISH+ will engage with POLFN clusters to share insights on the impact of farming practices on water quality.
Kudos to our Kiwa Initiative project leaders for cultivating these innovative collaborations that strengthen Pacific communities through integrated and multi-faceted approaches!
